One man has critical injuries after a fire broke out at an encampment under the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto.

Toronto police confirm the incident happened just before midnight near Spadina Avenue.

Investigators say a tent was found in the same area as the fire but couldn’t confirm if the person sent to the hospital had been living in the tent.

Paramedics say one man was rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.
