2 found dead in Boxing Day house fire in New Tecumseth were murdered: OPP

Two people found dead inside a home that was on fire in New Tecumseth on Boxing Day were murdered, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) revealed in an update on Thursday.

Emergency crews were called to the home on Pyne Hills Court, north of Highway 9 and west of Tottenham Road, just after 4 p.m. on Dec. 26, 2022.

The initial call was for a “well-being check,” but after crews arrived they found a fire at the home.

Two people were found dead inside, while a third person was taken to a hospital where they later died.

On Thursday police confirmed that the fire did not cause their deaths.

Instead, investigators say two of the people found dead in the residence — Adrienne Nesich, 48, and a nine-year-old child — were murdered.

The other person who died later at hospital has been identified as Christopher Nesich, 45.

“Investigators are confirming there is no threat to public safety surrounding this isolated incident,” the OPP said in a release.

This investigation is ongoing.
