Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day, and for thousands of Toronto elementary Catholic teachers, that’s how it started.
Julie Altomare-Di Nunzio, President of the Toronto Elementary Catholic Teachers, says more than 5,000 members did not receive a paycheque this morning.
“It is my understanding that no TECT teacher was paid today,” she said. “I have followed up with the board stating that action needs to be taken to ensure that our teachers are paid accordingly.”
Tom Wallis, a spokesperson for CIBC, cited a processing issue with payroll deposits that led to some of them being posted later than normal.
“We have worked with TCDSB to quickly rectify the issue, and all payments are now in the process of being deposited,” Wallis said, adding that the delay was not a result of a cybersecurity incident.
The TCDSB sent a letter to staff saying the school board was working with CIBC to determine the next steps if anyone is affected by NSF charges.
“We will continue to work with CIBC on this matter and to ensure similar issues can be avoided in the future.”
