Woman slashed with large knife, spat on at Spadina station; 3 suspects sought

Toronto police are looking for three suspects after a violent assault at Spadina station over the weekend.

Police were called to the station around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday after getting reports that a woman had been attacked with a knife.

It is alleged the victim became involved in an argument with three individuals she did not know.

Police say a male suspect spat in the victim’s face and pushed her several times. The same suspect then pulled out a six-inch knife and slashed the woman’s face causing minor injuries.

The three suspects then fled the scene.

Police are looking for three individuals:

  • A male, 5’10”, 140 lbs., with a slim build, and black puffy hair. He was last seen wearing a grey jacket with a fur hood, a grey sweater, a blue mask, grey sweat pants and black running shoes, and was carrying a six-inch knife. A photo of this suspect has been released (see above).
  • A male, 5’7″, 130 lbs., approximately 16 to 19-years-old, with a slim build, and short black puffy hair. He was last seen wearing a black winter jacket, a grey hoodie, black jeans, black and white running shoes, and a white mask.
  • A female, 5’4″, 120 lbs., approximately 14 to 17-years-old, with a slim build, long black hair in a ponytail. She was last seen wearing black puffy jacket, grey sweat pants, white and black running shoes, carrying a large brown leather purse with gold straps.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the incident is being asked to contact police.

Safety concerns remain as TTC violence continues

Transit advocates and community members gathered last week to voice their concerns over a recent rise in violence on the TTC.

Late last month, the TTC announced it would deploy approximately 80 additional employees to move throughout the system each day in an effort to increase safety. Transit advocates have been critical of increased policing, saying the city should allocate more funding, like increasing shelter spaces and placing mental health workers on board TTC vehicles.

There have been more than 20 incidents of violent attacks on the TTC since last April — ten of them occurring in the last month alone.
