Weight plate lands on vehicle in downtown Toronto, police investigating

By Erick Espinosa

Toronto police are investigating after a one-pound weight landed on a vehicle earlier this week.

“I was on York Street just before driving under the Don Valley Parkway bridge,” a man named Travis tells CityNews, describing the moment before hearing what sounded like an explosion at 6:45 pm. on Monday.

After the driver got out of their vehicle, they noticed the rear driver-side window broken.

When officers arrived at York Street and Lakeshore Boulevard intersection, they located a 1.1 lb weight on the vehicle’s floor.

“It either was thrown from the street aimed at me or from the balcony above,” explains Travis.

Thankfully there were no reported injuries.

“It’s undetermined where the weight came from,” police tell CityNews.

Anyone with information that may have witnessed what transpired is asked to contact 52 Division.
