Police say woman assaulted parking enforcement officer in downtown Toronto

Toronto police have charged a 58-year-old woman after an alleged assault on a parking enforcement officer last week in the city’s downtown core.

Officers were called to the Baldwin and Beverley Streets area on Wednesday, April 12 at around 11:13 a.m.

Police say the officer spotted a vehicle that was double parked and advised the driver to move the vehicle. When that apparently didn’t happen in a timely fashion, the officer began issuing a parking violation ticket.

That’s when a person came out of a nearby home, approached and allegedly pushed the officer.

“The driver also exited the vehicle and the two individuals began to verbally abuse the officer while following him,” police said in a release on Friday.

Ever Nyakachanga, 58, has been charged with assaulting a peace or public officer and is scheduled to appear in court on June 1.
