Dance act Conversion wins Canada’s Got Talent season 2

Dance act “Conversion,” hailing from Trois-Rivières, Quebec have won the second season of Canada’s Got Talent.

The group received judge Trish Stratus’ Golden Buzzer this season and were described by Stratus as “this season’s storytellers.”

The Cast, another dance act from Quebec, were the runners-up, followed by The Turnball Brothers in third and Maeve in fourth.

“Conversion” has won $150,000 and financial advice to help further their ambitions along with the opportunity to perform in “America’s Got Talent Presents: SUPERSTARS Live” at the Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

On the heels of the Quebec-based dance crew’s win, Citytv has greenlit the series for another season in partnership with McGillivray Entertainment Media Inc., Fremantle, and SYCO Entertainment.

And with that will come a much bigger prize for the winner. Whoever wins the next season of Canada’s Got Talent will receive $1,000,000, the biggest cash prize in Canadian television history, courtesy of Rogers.

Canada’s Got Talent Judge Howie Mandel said each season inspires more talent for the next.

“The fact that Rogers is giving us an opportunity for another season, with the biggest cash prize in Canadian television history, not only promises that it will be bigger and better but that we are now putting Canada’s Got Talent on the world stage,” said Mandel.

For the next season, each of the six Golden Buzzer recipients will each receive $25,000 from CIBC, totaling $150,000. Applications are currently open on the Citytv website.

This season has once again cemented Canada’s Got Talent as Citytv’s most-viewed original series in over a decade, reaching over than 6.5 million Canadians from the premier to the semifinals.
