A fully licensed bar within the headquarters of the Toronto Police Service is closing down.
A police spokesperson confirms in a statement to CityNews that the police chief’s office, in consultation with the Executive Officer Lounge Committee, informed senior officers in May that the bar’s ACGO license would not be renewed.
“The licence was used infrequently, and largely for formal functions, like retirements or when hosting dignitaries,” read the statement. “Moving forward, the Service will apply for a Special Occasions Permit from the AGCO should we decide to host an event where alcohol may be served.”
The bar inside the building at 40 College Street has reportedly been open since 1989.
