The Toronto Blue Jays have placed shortstop Bo Bichette on the 10-day injured list with a right quad strain, the club announced on Tuesday.
Infielder Mason McCoy was recalled from triple-A Buffalo.
McCoy, 28, was acquired from the Seattle Mariners on July 26 for reliever Trent Thornton.

Bichette was on the bench for Monday’s series opener and 6-3 win against the Washington Nationals.
Bichette left Sunday’s loss to the Cleveland Guardians with tightness in his right quadriceps muscle, but manager John Schneider said the move was precautionary.

Ernie Clement started at shortstop in Bichette’s place on Monday and will get the start again today against the Nationals.
Bichette missed close to a month after he was diagnosed with patellar tendonitis in his knee after stopping abruptly while turning first base in a July 31 game against the Baltimore Orioles. He returned on August 19 against Cincinnati.
The 25-year-old is hitting .314/.344/.488 with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs in 114 games this season. Bichette made his second career All-Star appearance earlier in the year and currently leads the Blue Jays in hits (152) and batting average.
Bichette’s injury comes one day after the Blue Jays placed third baseman Matt Chapman on the 10-day injured list with a finger sprain. Santiago Espinal is starting at third base on Tuesday.
The Blue Jays enter tonight’s game with a 72-60 record and are currently two-and-a-half games back of the Houston Astros for the third and final American League wild-card spot.
