WATCH: Surveillance captures 2 attempted carjackings in same Brampton neighbourhood

The alleged carjacking attempt occurred early Wednesday morning at a residence in Castlemore Road and Goreway Drive.

Peel Regional Police are investigating after a group of suspects attempted separate carjackings in the same Brampton neighbourhood early this morning.

CityNews was made aware of a carjacking attempt that occurred early Wednesday morning at a residence in the Castlemore Road and Goreway Drive area.

Surveillance footage submitted to CityNews shows the victim getting into an SUV on his driveway around 5:15 a.m. Shortly after he gets inside, a white vehicle can be seen driving slowly past the home before coming to a stop just beyond the driveway.

Three suspects dressed in hooded sweaters and masks get out of the back and passenger side of the white vehicle and run up on either side of the victim’s SUV. The driver of the suspect vehicle remains on the street.

Two suspects approach, open the driver’s SUV door and attempt to remove the victim while the victim begins screaming and honking his horn. After a brief struggle, the suspects flee back to their vehicle on the street and make a getaway.

The victim’s wife tells CityNews her husband did not sustain any serious injuries during the altercation. She says he had his seatbelt on, which helped prevent the suspects from throwing him out of the SUV.

She described the trio of suspects as three young men.

During the attempted carjacking, one of the suspects appeared to reach into a bag and pull something out. The woman says her husband doesn’t recall seeing a weapon during the struggle with the men.

The victim called the police shortly after the suspects fled.

Neighbour’s surveillance footage captures second attempted carjacking

The victim of a second attempted carjacking contacted CityNews on Wednesday, alleging he, too, was getting into his vehicle around 5 a.m. near Castlemore and Goreway when a group of suspects attacked him.

According to the timestamps on the surveillance video, this incident occurred approximately 13 minutes before the other botched carjacking in the neighbourhood.

The victim tells CityNews that he was going to work when the attempted carjacking transpired. Home surveillance footage shows the man in his car when, moments later, multiple suspects approach him in the driver’s seat.

Two suspects forcefully remove the victim from the vehicle, and a third suspect is seen entering the passenger seat. The man runs to his front porch, and seconds later, a different vehicle drives up the street. The suspects flee from the victim’s car, enter a getaway vehicle, and drive off.

The man tells CityNews he sustained minor injuries to his hand and shoulder. His hand injuries result from a laceration from a knife he claims one of the suspects was wielding at the time.

The victim alleges the three suspects were men, and a fourth person was driving the getaway car.

Peel police tell CityNews they’re aware of this second attempted carjacking but wouldn’t provide details.
