Multiple collisions hamper drive on northbound Hwy. 400

Several collisions hampered the Friday afternoon commute northbound on Highway 400.

The left lane of the highway approaching Canal Road was blocked for several hours following a three vehicle crash and a separate two vehicle crash close behind that incident, according to OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.

Provincial police and fire crews reported no significant injuries.

North of that incident, approaching 5th Line, Schmidt says there were reports a cement truck spilled some of its load onto the highway. Callers into the CityNews 680 newsroom described driving conditions in that area as “horrendous”. There is no sign of the truck which is responsible for the lost load.

“Heavy delays northbound, heavy delays southbound,” said Schmidt. “Please take it easy, watch out for slowing traffic ahead. You never know quickly conditions can change.”
