Toronto police identify victim, name suspect in fatal west-end stabbing

57-year-old Ana Paula Kitterhing De Sousa was pronounced dead at the scene near Davenport and St. Clair on Sunday. A 46-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder.

Toronto police have identified a woman found stabbed to death at a west-end home and named the man accused of killing her.

Police were called to the area of Davenport Road and Uxbridge Avenue, south of St. Clair Avenue West, just before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday night for reports of a man seen with a knife.

When officers arrived they took a man into custody.

Information following his arrest led police to a home on Chambers Avenue, near Rogers and Old Weston roads, approximately two kilometres from where the man was arrested.

Ana Paula Kitterhing De Sousa, 57, was discovered at the home suffering from stab wounds.

She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have now charged Michael Calvo, 46, of Toronto, with second-degree murder in De Sousa’s death.

Investigators have not revealed if Calvo and De Sousa were known to each other prior to her fatal stabbing.
