Suspect arrested for stabbing someone with syringe near Yonge-Dundas: police

Toronto police have arrested a 43-year-old man wanted for allegedly stabbing someone with a syringe near Yonge-Dundas Square.

Police were called to the area of Yonge Street and Dundas Street West around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, and say a suspect randomly approached the person from behind and stabbed them with the syringe.

The man fled the scene and entered the subway at Yonge-Dundas.

The person stabbed was taken to hospital but police haven’t revealed the severity of his injuries.

Police say the suspect and victim did not know each other.

On Wednesday, investigators identified the suspect as Aaron Chomenchuck, of no fixed address, and said he was wanted in connection with the incident. Police said he was arrested that day and charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and failing to comply with a release order.
