A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with an alleged home invasion that involved the suspects threatening homeowners with pepper spray before stealing their vehicle.
Toronto police officers were called to the Yonge Street and Florence Avenue area just before 4 a.m. on Dec. 21, 2023, for reports of a break and enter.
It’s alleged that five suspects attended a residence, and two of them broke into the home through the back patio. Police said that once inside, the suspects demanded the victim’s car keys and threatened them with a can of pepper spray.
The suspects fled the scene in the homeowner’s vehicle, and police said images of the suspects were obtained from video surveillance. This incident is related to past arrests announced by authorities in early January.
On Monday, police arrested and charged a 17-year-old boy from Toronto with various offences, including break and enter commit, robbery with an offensive weapon, disguise with intent and theft of a motor vehicle.
He was expected to appear in court on Tuesday. The boy was not identified by means of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
