Man, 38, arrested after underaged child allegedly sexually assaulted

A 38-year-old man is facing several charges after he allegedly lured an underaged child to meet with him before sexually assaulting them.

Toronto police say on June 11 the man, pretending to be a 17-year-old, used the social media platform Snapchat to communicate with a child under the age of 16.

Investigators say the man, aware of the child’s age, met up with them and sexually assaulted them.

Fathi Rashid, 38, of Toronto, was arrested in the area of Dufferin Street and King Street West and has been charged with luring a child, sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, indecent exposure to a person under 16 years of age, and failing to comply with a release order.

Police say Rashid was employing the usernames “savag3love666” and “ydk.lov33” on Snapchat and they believe there may be more victims.

A man by the same name was charged back in 2015 following a series of alleged sexual assaults on teenage girls near Centennial Park in Etobicoke.
