Police search for motorcyclists who walked away from crash with ‘significant injuries’

It’s been a deadly week on the roads for motorcyclists. Brandon Rowe speaks with the OPP to get safety tips ahead of the long weekend.

Provincial police are searching for a man and a woman they say walked away from a crash involving a car and a motorcycle in Ajax.

Police say the crash occurred in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 west of Westney Road just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

A male motorcyclist and a female passenger sustained “significant injuries” but walked away from the scene, last seen going northbound on Westney Road according to police.

The male motorcyclist is described as Caucasian, approximately five-foot-eight to six feet with a black beard and brown hair. The woman is described as Caucasian, approximately five-foot-two to five-foot-five with blonde hair in a ponytail. Both may be French-speaking.

“Whitby officers from the #TorontoOPP are concerned for the wellbeing of the male and female due to the extent of their injuries,” police said in a social media post. “If either the male or female are encountered please encourage them to get medical attention.”

Investigators say if anyone spots the pair or has dashcam footage of the incident to contact the Whitby OPP.
