2 charged in connection with Markham realtor’s death

Two people are facing several charges in connection to the death of a Markham realtor back in August.
Yuk-Ying (Anita) Mui, 56, was last seen around 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 9 when she left her home in Markham. She contacted family members at around 11 a.m. that morning and hadn’t been heard from since.
Mui’s white 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 SUV was found on Aug. 9 in the Finch Avenue East and Warden Avenue area in Scarborough.
York Regional Police later confirmed that on Aug. 12, burned human remains were discovered in the area of Avro Arrow Road and Hwy. 400 in McDougall in Parry Sound, Ont.
A coroner positively identified the deceased woman as Mui.
A Canada-wide warrant is stil active for 47-year-old Zhixiong Marko Hu who is wanted for first-degree murder in connection to Mui’s death, but authorities believe he fled to Hong Kong.
On Nov. 27, Abid Khugiani, 24, of Oshawa, was arrested and is facing several charges in connection to the homicide including Indignity to Human Body, Weapons Trafficking, and Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence.
A week later, police took Oscar Liang, 19, of Toronto, into custody and charged him with several crimes, including Manslaughter, Kidnapping, Forcible Confinement and Accessory After the Fact to Murder, in connection to the homicide.
