A 20-year-old man has been charged after a woman died and three other people were injured in a single-vehicle crash in Pickering.

Emergency crews responded to the scene on Brock Road near Highway 7 and Pickering Concession 7 just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

Investigators say a black 2018 Audi sedan was southbound on Brock Road when it lost control, left the roadway and struck a large tree.

The vehicle had four people in the vehicle and was allegedly driven by a 20-year-old male from Quebec.  Two of the occupants were ejected during the collision and rollover.

One woman between the ages of 18 years old and 22 years old was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are still working to identify her.

Paramedics transported three other people to trauma centres in Toronto, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening. Their ages are not yet known.

The 20-year-old driver of the vehicle, who also suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, has been arrested and is facing several charges.

Sohaib Abdallah Lounes has been charged with Dangerous Operation Causing Death, two counts of Dangerous Operation Cause Bodily Harm, Possession of Electronic Device for the Purpose of Committing Motor Vehicle Theft, and Possession of Break-and-Enter Instruments.
