2 additional suspects charged in fatal 2023 Scarborough shooting

Toronto police have announced the arrests of two additional suspects in the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man in September, 2023, in Scarborough.

Officers were called to the Morningside Avenue and Danzig Street area just before 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 24, 2023, for reports of a shooting.

A victim was located in the area. He was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and died two weeks later, on Oct. 8, 2023.

He’s since been identified as Joshua Bernard-Reis, 21, of Toronto.

In early November investigators arrested two suspects, a 16-year-old male who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and 19-year-old Jermaine Goode, of Markham. They were both charged with first-degree murder. The youth faces an additional charge of attempted murder.

On Thursday, police announced that two additional suspects were arrested on Dec. 30 in connection to the homicide.

Tyler Brown, 21, of Toronto, faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder.

An 18-year-old male, who can’t be named because he was a youth at the time of the alleged offence, faces the same charges.
