An 18-year-old from Mississauga has been charged in connection with two violent carjackings.
Peel police say a 72-year-old man was in his driveway in the area of Airport Road and Morning Star Drive on January 16 when two suspects approached him, assaulted him and demanded the keys to his vehicle before fleeing the scene.
The man was treated for minor injuries.
Police managed to locate and intercept the stolen vehicle and arrested one of the suspects following a foot pursuit. The second suspect managed to escape.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect was also wanted in an alleged carjacking that took place on January 9 in the Airport Road and Derry Road East area. In that incident, police say four suspects approached a 75-year-old man in his driveway and assaulted him before fleeing with his vehicle.
Aqib Aqib of Mississauga has been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of disguise with intent.
