One man is dead following a 3-alarm house fire in Brampton.
Fire crews were called to a home on Buick Boulevard in the Mississauga Road and Sandalwood Parkway West area just after 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
Fire officials say they were met with heavy smoke and flames and “multiple occupants” were rescued from the residence which was home to a multi-generational family.
Brampton Fire Chief Nick Ruller tells CityNews five of the eight people who live in the home were there at the time of the fire. At least one person jumped from a second floor window while another managed to escape via a basement window.
An elderly man has been pronounced dead while two other men are being treated for non-life threatening injuries in hospital.
Brampton Fire along with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal are investigating the origin and cause of the blaze.
