Toronto man charged in alleged kidnapping and attempted murder

A Toronto man has been charged in connection with an alleged kidnapping and attempted murder involving the victim being shot several times.

Peel Regional Police officers said the incident happened in Mississauga on March 10, 2024, when the victim was in the area of Hurontario Street near the QEW.

It’s alleged that the male victim was forcibly taken to a nearby address and held for several hours, where he was shot several times by the accused.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to a trauma centre.

Police said the suspect was identified following a lengthy investigation, and on Jan. 26, 2025, authorities arrested 33-year-old Liban Abdi Siyad of Toronto. He’s been charged with attempted murder using a firearm, kidnapping, and aggravated assault.

The accused was held pending a lengthy bail hearing at a courthouse in Brampton.
