Police are searching for five suspects after a truck was driven into a Scarborough business during a brazen robbery on Wednesday night.
According to investigators, the suspects backed a black pickup truck into a jewellery store in a plaza located on Eglinton Avenue near Brimley Road just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say the store owner suffered minor injuries and nothing was taken by the would-be thieves.
“We believe that the truck was backed in too far into the jewellery store that they could not make entry into the jewellery store itself,” Duty Insp. Saleem Husain told CityNews. “They miscalculated their direction.”
The suspects fled the scene in a light-coloured vehicle. There was no immediate descriptions available.
Police say the truck struck a gas line when it crashed into the store and the area was evacuated as a precaution until the gas line was capped.
