Normal service has resumed after a fire at the Wilson TTC yard prevented extra trains from being deployed for rush hour.
Toronto firefighters were called to the Wilson TTC yard at 160 Transit Road for reports of smoke shortly before 2 p.m.
A fire was found below grade at a hydro vault, trackside and not in a building. The power was turned off for some time and some electrical equipment melted.
Toronto Fire were able to clear out the smoke.
Because of the fire, the TTC says they were unable to deploy extra trains that are usually added for the evening rush hour. As a result, riders expected to experience wait times up to six minutes, rather than the usual three minutes.
Just after 8 p.m., TTC provided an update, saying a temporary solution had been found and regular service has resumed.
“We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience experienced during the evening’s rush hour on Line 1.”
