Police investigating house fire in Brampton, 1 man injured

Peel Regional Police are investigating the circumstances of a house fire in Brampton that left one man injured.

Brampton fire crews and police officers were called to a residence in the Hillcrest Avenue and Truman Street area at around 1 a.m. on Tuesday for reports of a two-alarm fire.

Police said a male victim was located and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released.

A spokesperson tells CityNews that authorities are working with Brampton Fire to determine the cause of the early-morning blaze.

Brampton Fire Chief Nick Ruller said initial reports indicate the fire may have been suspicious, but officials have yet to confirm that.

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified. No other injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.
