2 women injured, 1 critically, after being struck by vehicle in Yorkville

An 84-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries after two people were struck by a vehicle in Yorkville.

Police say a grey Jeep was stopped on a private driveway of a building in the Avenue Road and Tranby Avenue area just before 1:30 p.m. Saturday as two women attempted to retrieve a dog that had stopped in front of the vehicle.

Investigators say the Jeep then moved forward and hit the two women

Paramedics transported a 51-year-old woman to Sunnybrook Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and an 84-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries.

The status of the dog was not immediately known.

It’s unclear if any charges will be laid in connection with the incident.
