Youth cyclist, 17, charged in collision with vehicle in Vaughan

A youth, 17, has been charged after colliding with a vehicle while on a bicycle in Vaughan.

York police were called to Dufferin Street and Beverly Glen Boulevard just before 3 p.m. for reports of a collision.

It’s alleged that the cyclist had been riding southbound in the northbound lanes and was not wearing a helmet when the collision occurred.

The youth sustained minor injuries and has been charged with careless driving and operate bicycle – no helmet

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

York police remind cyclists they are subject to the same rules and responsibilities as motorists and they are reminded to always ride in the same direction as traffic and always wear a helmet.

Dufferin Street was closed from Centre Street following the incident, but has since reopened.
