Man Clutching Teddy Bear Near School Raises Suspicions

With a series of disturbing school sexual assaults taking place in the GTA over the past few years, authorities are understandably on edge whenever a stranger enters or is seen lingering around a learning institution. That’s why the sight of a man in his 40’s clutching a huge teddy bear while driving in the parking lot at Pineview Public School in Halton Thursday was greeted with such intense suspicion.

Staff and students spotted the man, who may have been wearing a fake moustache, driving a large brown SUV through the school lot.

He appeared to be dressed like the male hero character from a kid’s television show titled Lazy Town.  As he crept through the lot, he was seen dangling a blue 8″ teddy bear out the window while blasting music.

A member of the school staff approached the vehicle, which immediately drove off.  But the witness got a good look at the car. It’s a grayish brown SUV similar to a GMC Suburban, with a partial licence plate number “174” or “175.”

Halton Police are now looking for anyone else who have seen the man in the area.

If you know anything, call  (905) 634-1831 Ext. 2415 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
