NHL suspends Panthers’ Barch one game

The National Hockey League has suspended Florida Panthers forward Krys Barch one game for an alleged racial slur directed towards Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban.

During Saturday’s game between Montreal and Florida, Barch was given a game misconduct after reportedly uttering the slur.

The 31-year-old is known as one of the tougher players in the league, racking up 628 penalty minutes in 275 career NHL games.

Barch, however, has never been suspended in his professional career.

In 22 games this season the Hamilton, Ont., native has no goals, no assists, is minus-4 with 73 penalty minutes.
