TTC’s last H4 subway train makes final trip Friday

The TTC’s last H4 subway train made its final trip Friday morning, leaving commuters with only memories of sticking to its orange plastic seats in the non-airconditioned cars in the summer months.

The trip marked the end of non-airconditioned underground travel for the TTC.

The commission launched its new “Rocket” train in July on the Yonge-University-Spadina line.  The cars have more capacity and allow passengers to walk from one end of the train to the other.

The rest of the approximately 70 new trains will eventually be rolled out by the end of next year.

The trains will eventually be running on an automatic control signal system that will allow more vehicles on the line.
