Raptors Win Game But Lose Two More To Injury

The Raptors can be happy they didn’t add insult to their injuries. Some of the NBA dinosaur’s best players neared temporary extinction Wednesday, as they continue to limp along with yet more walking – and limping – wounded.

The latest casualty of the basketball wars is Chris Bosh, who managed 10 points in a game his team would win against the Memphis Grizzlies. But it came with a price. The all-star forward was forced to leave in the second quarter with a strained right groin, aggravating an injury he first felt at practice earlier in the day. “Usually it’s one of those things that when you get warm, you don’t feel it,” he explains about why he decided to play. “But it was a little painful making certain cuts, so I decided to take it easy.”

He expects to be back for Friday’s tilt against Cleveland, but team officials are watching him closely.

Andrea Bargnani followed Bosh onto the temporary inactive list two quarters later, when he banged knees with Stromile Swift. There was just 10 minutes left in the game when he departed. “Now is better than when I was coming off the court,” he advised. “So we’ll see.”

T.J. Ford was again one of the missing when the tip off took place at the ACC. He sat out his fourth straight game with an arm injury.

And Jorge Garbajosa’s immediate future is still up in the air. The Spanish star is slated to undergo surgery on the left ankle and leg he injured during his rookie season last March. There’s no word on whether he’ll be back this year.

Despite all the injuries, the remaining Raptors continue to rise to the challenge, and haven’t let all the missing pieces keep them from completing this NBA puzzle – winning at all costs, with other players stepping in to seamlessly take their places.

“That’s our strength, especially with such a long season,” agrees Anthony Parker. “So many things can happen.”

But hopefully, nothing else will.
