A 19-year-old is dead after a collision with a tractor-trailer early Saturday morning.
At about 2:45am, the teen and two other males, aged 19 and 20, were travelling southbound on Highway 400 near Innisfil Beach Rd. when police say their Mazda Protégé hit the guard rail.
The victim got out of the stranded car, at which point an approaching tractor-trailer crashed into the vehicle and dragged the teen 30 metres before mounting the centre median about a half-kilometre down the road.
The Beaton resident died at the scene. The other two, aged 19 and 20, were transported to Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie with life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was unharmed.
Police closed all southbound lanes and two northbound lanes from Innisfil Beach Rd. for hours for the investigation.
