What Happened To CityNews On That Cable Channel?

This article is more than 5 years old.
It’s the one question we’ve received over and over again since Wednesday: what in the world happened to CityNews on my cable?
The answer is that we’re still around. It’s just where you can find us that’s changed.
Many viewers of a Toronto all news channel were surprised to discover one of the sources where they’d once watched our award winning noon, 6pm and 11pm newscasts was no longer providing it.
And a lot of you were upset, writing in asking about the substitution and demanding the shows be put back.
The truth is we can’t tell you much about the decision. The company that now owns the station in question is no longer connected to Citytv. The change was made quite suddenly and without any real advance announcement on the same day we were awarded our own all news licence for a channel to start in the New Year.
But it doesn’t mean you can’t still see your favourite Toronto newscasts and the format that has since been copied around the world.
We’re still here at the same time every day on Cable 7 on your TV, channel 519 for those with high definition sets, channel 214 on Bell TV, 344 on Star Choice or for people who prefer antennas, on channel 57.
Because we haven’t really gone anywhere. And we’re still keeping our pledge to be Everywhere.
But you just might have to look in a new ‘old’ spot to find us.
