A cell phone sold in Canada for the past two years is being yanked off the shelves.
As many as 129,000 LG 150 phones are being recalled across the country because of concerns they do not meet federal radio emissions guidelines.
Although the Korean manufacturer, LG, suspects only specific production runs are affected, it is recalling the entire model as a precaution.
“[We have] mobilized quickly in response to these findings on behalf of our customers,” William Cho, CEO of LG Electronics Canada, stated in a press release.
“Because customer satisfaction and safety continue to be our primary commitment, we are taking a proactive approach and working in cooperation with our carriers to recall all LG 150 phones in Canada.”
Although Health Canada has said customers are unlikely to suffer any health problems from using the flip phone, this latest move does nothing to quell consumer fears over cell phone exposure.
The phone was sold in Canada by Bell Mobility, Virgin Mobile, MTS Allstream, SaskTel, Aliant Mobility, KMTS, NorthernTel, Sogetel, TDelDebec and Tbay Tel.
Customers have until March 31 to exchange their LG 150 for a similar model, free of charge.
