Vaughan to reopen skating rinks with enhanced safety measures

By News Staff

The City of Vaughan is re-opening its outdoor skating rinks, toboggan hill and off-leash dog park with new enhanced safety measures.

The outdoor amenities were temporarily shut down on Jan. 15 in response to rising COVID-19 cases and crowding but will be open for use starting on Monday.

The city says pre-registration is now required for its five outdoor rinks and the number of skaters allowed on the ice at one time is 25.

Masks are now mandatory on and off the ice and on-site security guards will patrol the toboggan hill and dog park, with mandatory mask zones in effect.

The city says portable washrooms will also be added to skate areas and highly-used parks and trails.
