Girl, 7, injured in hit-and-run in midtown

Toronto police have found a female driver who’s accused of striking a young girl with her vehicle in a hit-and-run in midtown Toronto.

It happened around 3:20 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Cleveland Street and Manor Road East, near Bayview and Eglinton.
Police Const. Laura Brabant says officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run involving a female child.
“Police attended the scene and have advised us that that child suffered a leg injury,” said Brabant.
Paramedics tell 680 NEWS the girl has been transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the driver initially stayed at the scene but fled a short time later.
Witnesses described the vehicle as a red hatchback, possibly a Ford Focus.
The driver was described as a white female, roughly around 60-70 years old, with short white hair. At this moment, police are speaking with the driver. It’s currently unknown if she will be charged.
