NEW YORK, N.Y. – David Petraeus’ former mistress says “it was a bit of a shocker” to learn the retired four-star general was being considered by President-elect Donald Trump for a cabinet position.
Former military officer Paula Broadwell told CBS News in an interview broadcast Thursday that she was happy for him because he “should be able to go on with his life.” She says she hasn’t been allowed to move on with hers since the affair became known publicly in 2012.
Petraeus pleaded guilty last year to giving Broadwell classified information while she was writing his biography. Broadwell wasn’t charged, but the Army demoted and reprimanded her.
Broadwell says she’s been denied opportunities since, including one at a prominent bank. She says she’s speaking out now to get her life back.
