Woman accused of assaulting boy with hockey stick after game in Timmins

TIMMINS, Ont. – Police say a woman is facing an assault charge after an incident following a weekend hockey game in Timmins, Ont.
Staff Sgt. Martin Wallingford says police allege a 39-year-old Timmins woman assaulted an 11-year-old boy by cross-checking him with a hockey stick.
The incident is alleged to have happened at a local arena on Sunday.
Police are not releasing any names to protect the identity of the boy.
The arena is also not being identified.
The woman is due in court Jan. 21 to face a charge of assault with a weapon.
