GM releases in-car system that connects to smartphones

General Motors is unveiling a new in-car infotainment package called Chevy Mylink.

It’ll be introduced on the 2012 Chevy Volt due out summer, 2011.

“When you get into the vehicle, you bring your smartphone in and it will instantaneously connect with the vehicle,” the head of GM’s electrical engineering explained.

Mylink uses a wireless bluetooth connection to link any smartphone or most personal music devices to the voice- and touchscreen-activated Mylink system.
