Funeral held for York University student

TORONTO, Ont. – Friends and family have said goodbye to Qian Liu, the York University student found dead in her basement apartment on April 15.
The funeral for the 23-year-old took place in North York and was attended by Qian’s parents as well as dozens of friends, classmates, as well as University and Chinese consular representatives.
The service was officiated by Rob Tiffin, York University vice-president of students and featured short speeches in both Mandarin and English.
Classmates plan to plant a tree in her memory in the courtyard of Founders College.
Qian was last seen through a webcam as she struggled with an unknown intruder.
29-year-old Brian Dickson has been charged with first-degree murder. Dickson was denied bail on Tuesday.
