Man dies after car rolls, falls two storeys to bottom of construction pit

TORONTO, Ont. – A man has been pronounced dead after his car rolled over into a construction site Sunday morning.

Police say the car fell approximately two storeys into a construction pit on Joe Shuster Way, near Queen and Dufferin streets just after 6 a.m.

Constable Clint Stibbe said the road will be closed for several hours following the incident.

“The driver (was) pronounced dead at the scene, the roadway is closed for the collision reconstruction team as we collect evidence,” Stibbe said.

Stibbe said it appears the 42-year-old driver was trying to make a right turn when it tried to stop and lost control, ending up in the pit.

He was driving a1989 Ford Taurus SHO.

The man’s identity has not yet been released.
