Fuel spill in B.C. has now evaporated or been contained: officials

Most of the jet fuel that a tanker truck spilled into a Kootenay, B.C., creek on Friday has now evaporated or been contained, and residents have returned to their homes.

Rick Wagner, the Incident Commander for the Environment Ministry, says testing has found no toxic or explosive fuel levels left in the air — but he says the clean-up is not over.

“There will be some more study, and more work and more clean up that will be required along the river, to get rid of the trace amounts, small

Wagner said the company that owns the tanker truck that spilled the 35,000 litres of fuel into Lemon Creek is responsible for the clean-up and the Ministry is monitoring the process.
