Elderly woman seriously hurt after being struck by vehicle in Whitby

Durham police are investigating after an elderly woman was struck by a vehicle in the area of Glen Hill Drive and Dundas Street East in Whitby.

The incident happened around 9:13 a.m.

Police say the woman was initially sent to a trauma centre in Toronto in life-threatening condition, but her injuries have since gone down to serious but non life-threatening.

The driver remained at the scene.

Residents are being advised to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing.
