GO transit website back online after cybersecurity scare

The GO transit website is back online after it had been taken down “out of an abundance of caution.”
Metrolinx says it was informed about a worldwide cybersecurity issue on Friday, and subsequently pulled the site to ensure protection for their services and customers.

The site was offline for approximately 17 hours.
“It’s important to note, at no time do we believe that any Metrolinx websites or assets were exploited or compromised,” said the company in a statement.

“All customer, personal and financial data systems remain secure (including, PRESTO) – and the safety and integrity of our transit network remains intact.”
Last month, the TTC were hit with a ransomware attack and experienced a loss of their Vision system — the system used to communicate with vehicle operators.
