Peel Regional Police say a young male teen is in critical condition after a daylight shooting in Mississauga.
Investigators were called to a townhouse complex in the Creditview Road and Britannia Road West area around 3 p.m. on Tuesday for reports of shots fired.
One male victim, aged 16, was injured in the shooting, Peel police confirmed with CityNews.
The teen is in serious but stable condition in hospital.
Police said suspects were seen fleeing the area shortly after the shooting. No descriptions were provided.
The investigation is ongoing.
Neighbours on edge after daylight shooting
Some nearby residents were shocked and appalled by the shooting on Tuesday.
One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said the fact that a young teen was shot in the townhouse complex had left many on edge.
“It’s scary. We don’t know what happened in the area,” he said. “We have never seen [anything like this].”
The man told CityNews he had lived in the neighbourhood for several years. He never thought he would experience something like this.
“We [have lived] in the area, a longtime, three or four years,” he said. “Never seen [anything] like this. This area is safe.”
One woman said she lived a few houses down from where the shooting occurred.
“We just got back from here. I can’t believe what happened here… We told our kids, and now they’re coming home.”
Only one victim was injured in Tuesday’s brazen shooting.
