Shooting at plaza parking lot in Vaughan leaves 1 male dead

One person is dead following a shooting at a plaza in Vaughan on Saturday evening.

York Regional Police responded to reports of a shooting in a parking lot at a plaza near Highway 27 and Langstaff Road around 8 p.m.

Police say a male victim was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no word yet on suspects or the age of the victim. Police say the suspects fled before officers arrived.

Police believe the shooting was targeted and say there is no threat to public safety.

The homicide unit has taken over the investigation.
