Two males are facing charges, including a 17-year-old, after the pair allegedly kidnapped a woman at gunpoint in Vaughan earlier this week.
York regional police were called to Steeles Avenue and Yonge Street on Nov. 1 around 11 p.m. for reports of a weapons call. Authorities were notified that an armed suspect was forcing a woman into a grey SUV.
It’s alleged that the woman had been standing outside a restaurant when she was grabbed by a suspect, and when a passerby attempted to intervene, police said the suspect fired a shot at him.
The armed individual fled in the SUV driven by another suspect.
York regional police tracked the stolen vehicle to a Barrie residence in the Janine Street and Cundles Road East area.
On Wednesday, with the help of Barrie police, investigators located the woman at the residence where she was being held captive.
She was taken to a local hospital with injuries and released, while two suspects were arrested at the scene. The severity of the woman’s injuries was not made clear.
Police identified 36-year-old Keyron Mark Moore of Toronto. He’s facing several charges, including attempted murder, sexual assault with a weapon, and kidnapping.
A 17-year-old male from Brampton was also arrested and charged with party to sexual assault, kidnapping and forcible confinement. The teenager was not identified through the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
