Impaired driver charged in Brampton, police find loaded gun in vehicle

Peel Regional Police arrested an alleged impaired driver and charged him with firearm and drug offences after a loaded gun was discovered inside his vehicle.
Authorities were investigating a possible impaired driver in the Dundas Street East and Dixie Road area in Mississauga early morning on August 7, just before 6:30 a.m.
Police said an impaired driver was arrested and charged, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a 9mm magnum pistol, ammunition, and drugs.
The man was identified as 26-year-old O’Shane Dixon of Brampton.
He’s facing multiple charges, including impaired operation of a motor vehicle, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of prohibited or restricted firearms with ammunition readily accessible and unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, among other offences.

Dixon was held on bail and made a court appearance in Brampton.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) announced Tuesday that responding officers laid over 1,800 charges across the GTA over the August long weekend. OPP said that impaired driving offences are up province-wide.
