Netflix’s ‘House of Cards’, ‘American Horror Story’ get Emmy nods

The Netflix series House of Cards made Emmy history by getting the first-ever nod for a show delivered solely online.

The political saga received nine award nominations, including ones for its stars, Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright.

Another online show, Arrested Development, got three nominations, including one for Jason Bateman who’s up for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series.

American Horror Story: Asylum received the most Emmy nominations at 17, followed by Game of Thrones with 16. Saturday Night Live and Behind the Candelabra both got 15 nominations.

Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, the Good Wife and last year’s winner Homeland are up for outstanding drama series.

Big Bang, 30 Rock, Girls and Veep are among those nominated for outstanding comedy series this year.

Many film actors were also nominated, including Matt Damon for lead actor in a miniseries or movie for the biopic Behind the Candelabra and Jessica Lange performance in American Horror Story: Asylum for best actress in a miniseries or movie.

Hugh Bonneville of Downton Abbey, Jon Hamm of Mad Men, Jeff Daniels of The Newsroom and last year’s winner Damian Lewis of Homeland join Spacey for this year’s best drama series actor.

Vera Farmiga of Bates Hotel, Michelle Dockery of Downton Abbey, Elizabeth Moss of Mad Men and Kerry Washington of Scandal join last year’s winner Dane of Homeland in the best drama series actress category.
