Fashion Cares Goes Burlesque

For the first time in 10 years, Fashion Cares was held outdoors. Traditionally, it’s been at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, but organizers brought this year’s party, PEEP, to the Distillery Historic District.

The 21st annual benefit to support the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) was hosted by Toronto’s own Jay Manuel who’s also the host of “Canada’s Next Top Model” and featured acts like Kelly Rowland, Mya and Bedouin SoundClash. The theme of the evening was Burlesque fashion.

Since 1987, the benefit has raised over $10 million for ACT and it hopes to do the same, if not better, at Saturday’s affair. In the past, over 5,000 people have attended each year and more than 1,000 people have volunteered making it the largest volunteer event in the world.
